Dry roast the whole spices on a tawa. Finally add the turmeric powder(haldi) and the Kashmiri Red chilli powder. Grind the mix to a fine powder. You can store the rest for later use.
For the dal
In a kadai or deep vessel, take a tbsp of ghee/ butter and add the cumin seeds, ginger and garlic. Put onions and fry till translucent.
Add the tomato puree. After a couple of mins add the cooked dal.
Check for salt. If needed, add more. Add the green chillies. chopped tomatoes and the Dhaba Tadka Powder mix.
Squeeze the juice of one lemon and garnish with chopped coriander and ginger slivers.
